Scoil Choilm and Scoil Ghrainne had their first friendly match this afternoon. The excitement has been building all week for this competitive game and the occasion did not disappoint. Both schools had two teams so each school team got to play a total of 2 matches each. Every game was very competitive and out of the four games, three ended in a draw! In the final game it was Scoil Choilm that were victorious on a scoreline of 2-0. Well done to all players and teachers involved.

Next week, the Scoil Choilm boys team will travel to Scoil Ghrainne for another friendly match.

Wheelchair Handball a Major Success

The boys and girls in 6th class along with Room 8s, had a brilliant time playing wheelchair handball today. The day was organised to promote wheelchair awareness and to give students the opportunity to experience what wheelchair users go through on a daily basis. The boys and girls really enjoyed the experience and hopefully this is something we can make an annual event on our school calendar.

Our tournament had a total of 14 games that involved over 100 students and teachers. The winning team on this occasion was the students 🙂 Congratulations to everyone involved!

A Busy Week in Room 1s

Published by under 6th Class

Room 1s have been working really hard this week. They know the countdown is on to their graduation but that does not stop them from trying their best and showcasing their talents around the school.

On Monday, the students put on an excellent performance for Ms. Corcoran. They performed three wonderful songs and helped to give her a very meaningful send off. We would like to wish her the best in her new adventure.

The boys and girls in 6th class took advantage of the beautiful weather and we decided to have our Reading Buddies outdoors. Reading Buddies with the junior infants in Room 1 has been a major success this year.

The boys and girls in 5th and 6th class took part in our annual quiz on Wednesday. Congratulations to everyone that took part and particularly the winning team. This was followed by a very special party for all of their hard work during their performance for Ms. Corcoran.

Finally, the 6th class students competed in a handwriting competition today. After much deliberating, the 6th class winner came from Room 1s. Well done everyone!

Students V Teachers Football Match

Published by under 6th Class,Active Flag

The eagerly anticipated teachers versus students football match took place this afternoon. After much hype and excitement throughout the week the event did not disappoint the large crowd in attendance. The students’ team was selected based on the two finalists from the 6th class football tournament that took place throughout term 2.

It was the students that started the brighter. They enjoyed good possession and showed great teamwork in their play. After numerous good chances, the teachers were more than happy to get to half time with the sides tied at 0-0.

Again, it was the students who were very quick out of the blocks in the second half. After creating some excellent chances they eventually broke through the defence and neatly finished passed a helpless goalie.

With limited time remaining the teachers went all out attack in an effort to salvage their reputations and bragging rights. Despite brilliant defending, the teachers capitalised on a long throw to finish to the net with a header. The sides remained tied 1-1 until the final whistle. Both sides felt they could have snatched a victory; however a draw was probably a fair result.
